OverviewReaseheath College i s a forward-thinking and dynamic college providing an excellent educational experience to over 4,500 students each year. Our Apprenticeship team plays a vital role in supporting apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed for successful careers within the construction industry.
About the roleThe Carpentry and Joinery provision works closely with employers to deliver high-quality apprenticeship training, ensuring apprentices gain both practical experience and industry-recognised qualifications while meeting employer and sector needs.
Key responsibilities:- Deliver Carpentry and Joinery training in line with the Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship Standard and approved college procedures.
- Lead and support apprentices through a range of practical activities that enhance learning and develop vocational competence.
- Deliver high-quality training, coaching, mentoring, and assessment both within college and through workplace visits to support apprentice progress and evidence gathering.
- Conduct apprentice recruitment activities, inductions, initial assessments, Apprentice Skills Scans, and calculations of prior learning.
- Monitor and review apprentice progress through regular formal reviews, action planning, and use of electronic portfolio systems to track achievement and 20% off-the-job training requirements.
- Work collaboratively with employers to maximise apprenticeship development opportunities and support apprentice achievement.
- Embed Functional Skills, British Values, Prevent Duty, safeguarding, and health and safety within programme delivery.
- Maintain accurate learner records and ensure all documentation meets DfE, Ofsted, EPAO, and internal compliance requirements.
- Participate in standardisation, internal quality assurance activities, team meetings, self-assessment, and continuous professional development.
- Support college promotional activities including open days, employer engagement events, and marketing activities where required.
- Hold a relevant vocational qualification in Carpentry and Joinery or Construction.
- Have substantial industry experience within the Carpentry and Joinery sector.
- Hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised teaching and/or assessor qualification.
- Demonstrate experience of coaching, mentoring, training, or assessing within a vocational or apprenticeship setting.
- Have strong organisational, communication, and IT skills, including experience using electronic portfolio systems.
- Be able to motivate apprentices and build effective working relationships with employers and colleagues.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and learner success.
- Be able to manage a busy caseload and prioritise workload effectively.

As a College, we actively encourage applications from industry professionals without a teaching qualification, as well as those from qualified teachers. Reaseheath offers a full CPD programme with access to funded qualifications alongside hands on support whilst completing Further Education Training. Industry professionals joining the College in an academic role, will complete their Further Education Training whilst in post.

The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment.
