Job Description

Can you lead repair & maintenance, and modification efforts, from planning through execution, to optimise vessel availability and efficiency?

We are looking for a Technical Superintendent to oversee and manage the maintenance, repairs, compliance, and budgeting for assigned vessels, ensuring they remain safe, efficient, and fit for purpose.

Tasks & responsibilities:

Monitor and interpret relevant legislation from flag states, classification societies, the IMO, and other regulatory bodies to initiate compliance actions, while using business intelligence dashboards-such as those for downtime, cost control, inventory, and asset management-to inform decision-making. Ensure assigned vessels are fit for purpose through regular assessments of performance, safety, and sustainability, and prepare and manage annual repair, maintenance, and investment budgets accordingly. Coordinate daily R&M activities onboard, working closely with Technical Department staff and other disciplines, and act as Project Manager for repairs, modifications, and project preparations. Drive standardisation of work methods and procedural improvements within the Technical Department, review and approve purchase orders and invoices in line with the authorisation matrix, and contribute to annual technical status reporting, including the preparation of Vessel Inspection Sheets. Maintain effective communication and collaboration with vessel crews and stakeholders to ensure smooth and compliant operations.

Vereisten Technical Superintendent

  • BSc or MSc degree in Maritime Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical role within a maritime company.
  • Solid knowledge of classification agency rules and IMO regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, coordinate complex maintenance projects, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both shipboard and shore-based teams.
