Technical Service UK & Ireland (office-based with occasional regional travel)

ROLE DETAILS

Reports To: EU Technical Service Manager

Department: Technical Service, UK & Ireland

Travel: Throughout the UK and Ireland, with occasional travel to European and global headquarters

Direct Reports: Service Technician(s) / Service Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Our client is an international manufacturer with a well-established European and global service organisation. They are seeking a Technical Service Supervisor to take operational and technical ownership of their Technical Service function across the UK and Ireland.

The role combines hands-on leadership of a regional service team with direct accountability for service quality, resource planning, customer satisfaction and compliance with global service standards. The role holder acts as the central point of contact for Technical Service in the UK and Ireland, and as a key interface between Technical Service, Technical Support, Sales, Warehouse, and the wider European and global organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Staff Development
  • Technical and disciplinary management of the Technical Service team in the UK and Ireland
  • Conducting appraisals, development discussions and target-setting meetings
  • Coaching, mentoring and supporting the professional development of team members
  • Onboarding new employees and coordinating relevant training and certification
  • Fostering a performance-oriented, accountable, customer-focused team culture
Operational Management
  • Responsibility for capacity, deployment, resource and holiday planning across the region
  • Coordinating and prioritising service activities against customer requirements and business priorities
  • Supporting technical and customer-related escalations
  • Ensuring cost-conscious, efficient use of available resources
  • Monitoring timely completion of maintenance, calibrations, installations and repairs
Quality and Performance Management
  • Defining, analysing and managing relevant Technical Service KPIs in line with the wider European organisation
  • Ensuring compliance with global Technical Service processes, procedures and quality standards
  • Identifying areas for improvement and initiating corrective and improvement measures
  • Supporting internal and external audits
Customer and Interface Management
  • Acting as the central Technical Service contact for strategically important customers and escalation cases
  • Working closely with Sales, Technical Support, Warehouse and other internal departments
  • Supporting the introduction of new products, services, tools and processes
  • Providing regular operational and performance reporting to the EU Technical Service Manager
Organisation and Areas of Responsibility
  • Responsibility for tools, measuring equipment, test equipment and other service-related equipment
  • Supporting budget planning, forecasting and ongoing cost control for the regional service organisation
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety, regulatory and internal company policies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completed technical vocational training or an equivalent technical qualification
  • Management experience or demonstrable leadership capability
  • Experience in operational service management, resource planning and coordination of technical teams
  • Experience in KPI management, process management and continuous improvement
  • A valid driving licence
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Several years of professional experience in Technical Service, Field Service, or a comparable technical environment
  • Further technical or commercial training
  • Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and Ireland, and to European and global headquarters when required
