About The Role

Working hours: 35 hours per week (hybrid working). Contract type: Permanent. Closing date: 11.59pm, 5 November 2025. Interview method: first round: virtual interview; second round: face to face interview. This role is subject to:

  • 2 references - where possible, we require 3 years' history
  • BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. You will therefore be required to consent to and comply with BPSS checking requirements prior to commencing in this post. This check involves verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record check.

If you're successful, you'll join a team of dedicated professionals driving high standards of service delivery across the Revenues and Benefits Unit. As a Technical Officer, you'll provide expert support to the Team Manager and wider team, helping to manage complex caseloads, interpret legislation, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring the quality of outputs, coaching colleagues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our service. You'll also work collaboratively across the Council, offering specialist advice and insight that supports wider organisational goals. This role is key to maintaining operational resilience, improving customer outcomes, and ensuring Manchester City Council continues to deliver services that are fair, efficient, and accessible to all.
