Salary: £19.32 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Duration: Temporary, Full-Time
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday
Access NI: Basic clearance required

Apple Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Technical Inspector (Band 6) on behalf of a public sector organisation based in Belfast.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction or building professional to undertake technical inspections, assess compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and provide specialist technical advice within a housing environment.

Key Duties

• Carry out construction site inspections to evaluate compliance with building regulations and prescribed technical standards.
• Apply significant knowledge of construction legislation, statutory regulations, building standards, specifications, technical details and related documentation within a housing environment.
• Assess construction works and identify technical, regulatory and compliance issues.
• Apply working knowledge of NEC Contracts and assess whether contracts have been managed and delivered in accordance with contractual conditions.
• Provide technical advice and support to management and key stakeholders.
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to senior management and key stakeholders, both verbally and through detailed written reports.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical problems and disputes.
• Make sound professional judgements and decisions within demanding timeframes.
• Support the effective management and monitoring of construction and technical issues.
• Work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, colleagues and other key stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to inspections, findings and technical matters.
• Support the identification, management and mitigation of technical and compliance risks.
• Contribute to the effective delivery of housing and construction programmes.
• Provide accurate and timely technical information and reports as required.
• Ensure work is undertaken in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, legislation and health and safety requirements.
• Undertake other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the post as required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following:

• Possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Architecture, Construction Project Management, Building Surveying or a relevant Building-related discipline, plus at least 2 years' experience working in a Building Construction-related environment; OR
• Possess a BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant Building-related discipline, plus at least 3 years' experience working in a Building Construction-related environment; OR
• Demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development or experiential learning, together with at least 5 years' experience working in a Building Construction-related environment.

Applicants must also demonstrate relevant experience in all of the following areas:

• Significant knowledge of construction legislation and statutory regulations, building standards, specifications, technical details and related documentation within a housing environment.
• Carrying out construction site inspections to evaluate compliance with building regulations and other prescribed technical standards.
• Working knowledge of NEC Contracts and assessing whether contracts have been managed and delivered in line with contractual conditions.
• Communicating complex issues to senior management and key stakeholders, both verbally and through detailed written reports.
• Demonstrable ability to resolve complex problems or disputes and make sound judgements and decisions to demanding deadlines.
• Advanced IT proficiency.
• Candidates must possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
• Candidates must have Basic Access NI clearance prior to taking up the appointment.
