Job Description
We are seeking a Technical Director who will be deeply embedded within the regional market, focusing on client-facing activities, business growth, market strategy, and technical leadership. This role is not centered on day-to-day operational management but plays an integral part in supporting initiatives to diversify our team in terms of staff and revenue.
As the Technical Director, you will support the Development team, specializing in development and transport planning, civil infrastructure design, and infrastructure delivery.

The role:
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities, leveraging your network to help win work and increase market share for the Development team.
- Coordinate with the Regional Director for Development North and the local office Place Lead to set and agree on growth targets and plans.
- Engage with public and private sector clients, ensuring client satisfaction and compliance with regulatory authorities.
- Provide technical advice to clients, managing their development requirements effectively.
- Demonstrate behaviors and attitudes aligned with our company values.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure coordination across the Development discipline, sharing market intelligence, best practices, and innovation.
- Lead and support bid processes by reviewing and authorizing submissions, adding value both commercially and technically.
- Act as Project Director for major projects and strategically important commissions.
- Support all health, safety, and environmental responsibilities, ensuring team compliance with SHEQ standards.
What you need to succeed:
- Degree qualification in transport planning or civil engineering
- Chartered status
- Strong commercial and strategic skills with a proven track record in securing and delivering new business opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and management skills capable of effective communication across all levels
- Proven success in work winning
- Broad project experience in transport planning or civil design for developments
