Technical Data Architect: Permanent

• Location: Primarily remote, with occasional travel to London
• SC Cleared: Need to be eligible for SC Clearance and a British Citizen
• Salary: £60000 - £70000 PA + benefits

Role Overview

Digital Skills are seeking an ambitious and skilled Technical Data Architect to join a client's team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, solution design and enterprise integration, and will play a key role in designing scalable, resilient and data-driven systems.

The focus is on defining and delivering modern data and integration architectures that meet complex business requirements. While experience with AWS and cloud platforms is beneficial, the primary emphasis is on data architecture and solution design.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and document end-to-end solution architectures, with emphasis on data platforms, integrations and enterprise-scale systems.
• Define and evolve data architectures to ensure scalability, reliability and consistency across applications and platforms.
• Work with stakeholders to evaluate technical requirements and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions, leveraging cloud-native patterns and AWS services where appropriate.
• Produce and maintain architecture artefacts, including reference architectures, technical diagrams and decision records.
• Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to ensure solutions are implemented in line with architectural designs.
• Lead or participate in proof-of-concepts (POCs) and technical evaluations of new tools and technologies in the data and integration space.
• Ensure solutions meet architectural standards, security policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Keep up to date with emerging trends in data architecture, integration and cloud technologies, sharing best practices with colleagues.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in solution and data architecture, with a track record of designing and delivering enterprise-scale systems.
• Strong understanding of modern data platforms, such as data lakes, data warehouses, streaming architectures, APIs and event-driven systems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally AWS (eg S3, RDS, Redshift, Lambda, IAM, Glue, Kinesis).
• Knowledge of integration patterns, system design principles and enterprise data management.
• Familiarity with security, compliance and governance in data and cloud environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to explain complex technical concepts in clear business terms.
