Technical Assistant Administrator

Salary: £29,000 - £32,000 per annum (Temporary)

The role of the Technical Assistant is predominantly administrative, focusing on undertaking document checks and using our innovative AI system to support this process. The role is primarily office based with full training given on all of our systems and Health & Safety inductions.

Successful applicants will be placed on one of our six 24/7 teams and work a 6 week rolling shift pattern which includes nights. Lunch breaks are 30 minutes.

Physical requirement: a reasonable level of fitness to comfortably undertake a minute walk from the secure car park to the site. A car is not essential for the role, but it is recommended due to the site's location just off Junction 10a of the M20, adjacent to the A2070. A pedestrian entrance is available.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Completing CHED checks on L/R and M/R jobs online.
  • Using AI to help complete CHED checks on M/R jobs and manually checking any discrepancies.
  • Conducting IUU checks when required.
  • Responding to emails and phone calls from agents and haulers regarding their consignments.
  • Escalating complaints to the Team Leader or relevant department.
  • Conducting seal checks on lorries to ensure continuity of consignments.
  • Accompanying Officers/Vets on inspections in the shed and filling in relevant information on a tablet and the internal system, Philis.
  • Completing identity checks on consignments in the shed under the guidance of the Officer/Vets.
  • Accompanying Officers/Vets and using the tablet to document detentions on internal systems.
  • Assisting with sampling of consignments carried out by Officers/Vets.
  • Collecting rejected consignments or re entries and uploading pictures in Philis.
  • Co ordinating lorries on site that have attended the BCP, liaising with other agencies to ensure an efficient and timely process.
  • Corresponding with agents regarding queries from the Vets/Officers and chasing relevant paperwork.
  • Answering queries raised by agents on charges to their accounts, either by phone or email.
  • Collecting paperwork from the Defra front officers for Officers and Vets.
  • Keeping up to date with legislation changes.
  • Keeping up to date with outbreaks that occur and implementing any changes needed to ensure we are following procedures.
