Team Leader

You're an experienced laboratory professional with a solid understanding of testing standards, quality systems, and team supervision. You take pride in accuracy, safety, and developing others, and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key Requirements

Degree or HNC (NQF Level 4-6) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).

Proven supervisory experience within a laboratory or technical testing environment.

Knowledge of ISO 17025 and other relevant QHSE and accreditation standards.

Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.

Confident in client liaison, auditpreparation, and managing technical documentation.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability under pressure.

About the Opportunity

As a Team Leader / Section Head, you'll provide supervisory and technical support to ensure your section meets daily operational, quality, and commercial targets in a safe and compliant manner. You'll also act as deputy to the designated line manager when required.

Key Activities

Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring testing is carried out accurately, safely, and on time.

Manage team workload, performance, and training to maintain technical competency.

Monitor equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure continued compliance.

Conduct internal audits and ensure adherence to ISO 17025, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other standards.

Authorise test reports and statements of conformity.

Control purchasing andovertime within agreed budgets.

Participate in quality and safety reviews, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.

Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, performance, and client satisfaction.

Support Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives, risk assessments, and COSHH compliance.

Represent Intertek professionally with clients and industry partners.
