Team Leader - Savill Garden

To support planning and scheduling of work to meet objectives and help ensure high horticultural standards are maintained.
Key Accountabilities 1. Horticultural Leadership & Standards- Assist in the overall maintenance and development of the Savil Garden
- Assist in planning and scheduling of work to meet objectives.
- Support improvements in efficiencies and best practice techniques in plant health, soil management, pest/disease control, irrigation, and sustainability.
- Identify and implement training programmes within the team
- Provide effective direction and support to the team
- Create clear work plans, rotas, and seasonal schedules
- Provide coaching opportunities where appropriate.
- Ensure all sites are maintained to the highest standards at all times
- Undertake a wide range of horticultural maintenance and landscape infrastructure tasks
- Ensure all work complies with The Crown Estate's health and safety policy and procedures including risk assessments, and safe methods of working.
- Ensure equipment, vehicles, machinery, and tools are maintained
- To work within The Crown Estate's policy framework to ensure that The Crown Estate complies with good practice and maintains its prestigious reputation.
- Ensure gardens contribute positively to visitor experience, resident/stakeholder satisfaction and brand reputation.
- Ensure that all interactions with visitors are conducted in a courteous and professional manner and to represent the best interests of the Crown Estate at all times.

Key Skills & Experience Required Essential- Relevant horticultural qualification, RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent with proven experience or equivalent.
- Diverse knowledge of horticultural techniques, solid knowledge of plant identification.
- Experienced team leader with coaching and support capability.
- Knowledge of machinery, irrigation systems, and horticultural equipment.
- PA1 and PA6 Certificates
- Able to manage a demanding outdoor role and physically able to undertake manual work.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- An understanding and commitment to health and safety management systems including the importance of risk assessments, manual handling assessments and COSHH assessments
- Experience working on heritage, visitor focused, or high profile landscapes.
- Demonstrate The Crown Estate values and behaviours
- Passionate about horticulture, landscapes, and nature.
- Effective communication skills
- Collaborative, communicative, and customer focused.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to support wherever needed.
