Teaching Assistant SEMH

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Wigan (WN2) - Full Time

We are working with a fantastic SEMH secondary school in the WN2 area who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from 20th April on a temp to permanent basis. This is a small, supportive secondary setting catering to pupils with a range of SEMH and behavioural needs.

Responsibilities & Experience

• Support children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour within a Key Stage 2 and lower Key Stage 3 curriculum.
• Build strong relationships and positively engage with students in small class sizes of around 4 pupils.
• Work within a school that includes autism, ADHD, ODD, and global developmental delay.
• Operate within a setting that places a huge amount of focus on the behaviour policy.
• Previous experience in an SEMH school, PRU, or alternative provision is preferred.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Full time availability.
• Positive, energetic, and engaging personality.
• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
• Background in specialist school setting, youth work, residential care, coaching, mentoring, or even the armed forces considered acceptable.
• Up to date DBS (or willingness for Axcis to process one).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
