About the Role

Are you caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a full time role with a supportive Primary School environment?

A welcoming Primary School in Oldbury is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class on a long term basis from September until February 2027. This full time role offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly and inclusive school, supporting pupils during a vital stage of their early education.

This Teaching Assistant role is based within a nurturing Reception classroom, where you will work closely with the class teacher to provide general classroom support and help create a positive and engaging learning environment. The class includes several pupils with low level SEND, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and you will play an essential part in providing additional support to help them access learning and thrive within the classroom.

The school is looking for a warm, reliable and adaptable Teaching Assistant with previous experience working within an Early Years or Primary School setting. Experience supporting children with ASD or other SEND needs, alongside a patient and nurturing approach, is essential for this rewarding role.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging learning activities
  • Providing general classroom support within the Reception class
  • Supporting pupils with low level SEND, including ASD, to access learning and classroom routines
  • Encouraging children's personal, social and emotional development
  • Promoting communication, independence and positive behaviour
  • Supporting children with learning through play and structured activities
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school staff
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within an Early Years or Primary School setting
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD, is desirable
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification is desirable
  • A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach
  • A good understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A reliable and professional attitude
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
