The successful candidate will help the child access learning opportunities, develop social and communication skills, and support their emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD.
  • Assist the pupil in accessing classroom learning and structured play activities.
  • Implement strategies set by the class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Support the development of communication, social interaction, and independence skills.
  • Assist with transitions between activities and school routines.
  • Monitor and record progress, behaviour, and achievements.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, teaching staff, and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the pupil at all times.

1:1 Year 1 Teaching Assistant - ASD

Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic and proactive Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role requires an individual who can build strong relationships while providing consistent support to help the child engage positively with learning and school routines. The pupil is very active and enjoys moving around, so the successful candidate will need to be physically active and confident in supporting a child who frequently runs and requires close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Support the pupil's access to learning activities within and beyond the classroom.
  • Monitor and maintain pupil safety, including active supervision during movement around school.
  • Implement behaviour support and engagement strategies as directed by the class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Encourage communication, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Support transitions, sensory breaks, and structured learning activities.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and parents to ensure consistency of support.
  • Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews.

1:2 Teaching Assistant - Year 6 Intervention Support

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for two Year 6 pupils working significantly below age-related expectations. Although the pupils are in Year 6, their academic attainment is currently around Year 1 level. The successful candidate will support them in developing key literacy, numeracy, communication, and independence skills to maximise their progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide focused support for two pupils in a 1:2 capacity.
  • Deliver learning activities adapted to individual ability levels.
  • Support the development of basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Build pupils' confidence, engagement, and independence.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and intervention staff.
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with classroom integration while adapting work to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and learning attitudes.
