Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant specialist school in South Tyneside. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced professional looking to make a positive impact in an inclusive and supportive educational environment. You will be working with children who have profound and multiple learning difficulties, and/or working with pupils diagnosed with autism. The role is full time, 8 30 Monday to Friday, with a view to a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one to one and group support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Assist students with learning activities, ensuring they are fully included in lessons
  • Adapt and modify learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Support the development of students' social, emotional, and behavioural skills
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement individual learning plans
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents where necessary
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment
  • Promote inclusion, equality, and respect for diversity across the school
Requirements
  • Must hold a CACHE Level3 qualification
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting students with SEND is essential
  • A valid Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or one in progress
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Clear understanding of how to support students with a variety of SEND needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities
  • Positive and professional attitude towards inclusive education
  • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively in a dynamic school environment
