Teaching Assistant

Overview

Up to £27,528 + excellent benefits. We are recruiting Teaching Assistants at Witherslack Group to support children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You will help them learn, develop their abilities and raise their self-esteem. The role requires resilience and dedication, as progress may be gradual but rewarding.

One of the best environments in SEND. Plans are underway to expand the Secret Garden school opening in the Autumn of 2026 to a purpose-built, state-of-the-art primary campus, catering for up to 40 pupils with a range of needs including autism and SEMH.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with ASD/SEMH to engage in learning activities and develop skills.
• Help learners progress, build confidence and improve wellbeing in classroom and school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement individual plans and strategies.
• Provide a supportive, inclusive environment that reflects the diversity of our pupils.

Requirements

• Genuine passion for supporting children to learn and the impact it can have on their lives.
• A positive, can-do attitude; willingness to support the teacher and work with therapists.
• Ideally experience in a classroom; if not, training will be provided.
• Ability to work as part of a team and engage with pupils from diverse backgrounds.
