Job Description

Position: Teaching Assistant

Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday (30-minute lunch break)
Salary: £13.69 - £15.83 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)

Reeson Education is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary SEN school in Salford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with experience in behaviour support, youth mentoring, or sports coaching to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:

  • Work as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils in small groups and one-to-one settings.
  • Use Team Teach strategies to support positive behaviour and de-escalation.
  • Provide structured routines to help pupils develop confidence and self-regulation.
  • Use active engagement techniques to keep pupils focused and involved in learning.
  • Work alongside teachers and therapists to create tailored support plans.
  • Help pupils develop social skills, resilience, and teamwork.

Requirements for the Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, behaviour mentor, or in sports coaching, youth work, or alternative provisions.
  • Team Teach training is essential.
  • Ability to provide structure, positive reinforcement, and firm but fair guidance.
  • A patient, proactive, and resilient approach to working with children with SEMH needs.
  • A passion for making a difference in young lives.
