Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language

About the School

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a brilliant specialist school for pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs. Our school brings together teachers, teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists to deliver a highly integrated approach that supports every pupil's communication, learning and wellbeing.

This is a temporary position, unless otherwise stated.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with speech, language and communication needs across primary and secondary phases.
• Work alongside teachers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Deliver targeted one to one and small group support.
• Use strategies such as visual supports, pre teaching vocabulary and multi sensory learning.
• Help pupils access learning through adapted language and structured routines.
• Support communication, emotional regulation and independence.

• Patient, positive and passionate about supporting children with SEND.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop specialist skills in speech, language and communication needs.
• Experience working with children.
