About the Role

A secondary school in Middlesbrough is looking for a compassionate and reliable Teaching Assistant to support students with physical or medical needs. This role is essential for ensuring that all students can access learning safely and participate fully in school life.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and healthcare professionals to support students' medical and physical needs, promoting independence, safety, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with physical disabilities or medical needs.
  • Assist students with mobility, personal care, and accessing learning resources.
  • Support students in safely participating in classroom and school activities.
  • Implement individual care or support plans in collaboration with SEND staff.
  • Administer basic first aid when required and follow school medical protocols.
  • Support students' inclusion, confidence, and independence in the school environment.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external healthcare professionals.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with students with physical or medical needs in an educational or care setting.
  • Team Teach, First Aid, or other relevant medical training preferred.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies is an advantage.
  • Commitment to supporting students to achieve their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
