Teaching and Support Assistant

Join us as a Teaching Assistant, working directly with teachers to implement tailored learning activities and provide essential academic and welfare support to individuals and small groups. This varied role spans classroom support, intervention management and helping to develop individualised pupil support plans.

This is a great opportunity to help develop creative learning opportunities for pupils with Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

You will be working in one of our schools where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where children are listened to, respected, and involved in as many decisions as possible.

You will be integral to the teaching cycle, implementing planned learning activities, supporting the teacher in monitoring and recording pupil progress and providing constructive feedback.

You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND), assisting in the development of individual plans and progression towards EHCP outcomes.

Whilst previous experience working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent communication skills, the right motivation, and strong levels of resilience are just as important. Along with a willingness to learn and develop a strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher with learning tasks and interventions
• Support pupils social and emotional wellbeing
• Assist with eating, dressing and hygiene where required
• Provide cover and assistance throughout the school day
• Support the implementation of school policies and procedures
• Build and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with pupils and colleagues

Qualifications

• Holds GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
• Is caring, patient and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
• Is resilient, adaptable and able to remain positive in a dynamic environment
• Enjoys working as part of a collaborative and supportive team
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Is flexible and enthusiastic about supporting learning in a variety of ways
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

This post involves working with children and young people considered to be at risk and therefore is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
