Teacher of Media Harrogate

About the role:

justteachers are working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Harrogate who are recruiting for a Teacher of Media Studies to start in September on a full time, long term supply basis. The school is recognised for its supportive leadership team, positive behaviour culture and a strong focus on pupil progress. The school has a creative and collaborative department, with shared resources and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.

• Deliver engaging Media Studies lessons that develop pupils' analytical, creative and technical skills.
• Plan and assess in line with the school's curriculum and the relevant exam board specification.
• Teach key media concepts (representation, audience, genre, narrative and media language) and support pupils with coursework/NEA where applicable.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to share resources and support whole-school priorities (literacy, oracy and digital learning).

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Media Studies in a UK secondary school (KS4 essential; KS5 desirable).
• Strong subject knowledge of Media Studies and confidence teaching exam specifications and/or NEA requirements.
• An understanding of effective approaches to teaching analysis, evaluation and written responses.
• Confident behaviour management and a consistent approach to standards.
