Salary: £36,159 - £54,453
Hours: 35 per week, 52 weeks

Overview

Firrhill High School serves the area of South West Edinburgh. In partnership with our five associated primary schools we strive to provide learning opportunities of the highest quality. Our school values are founded on respect for self and others, tolerance and support.

We are one of the largest schools in Edinburgh with a roll of 1300 pupils and 130 staff, providing opportunities for curricular, interdisciplinary and extracurricular activities, personal achievement and skills development.

Role

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative teacher to join the art team, supporting students from junior levels through Advanced Higher, and contributing to the success of Fashion & Textiles and Photography programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver and assess art and design curriculum across key stages.
  • Develop pupils' creative and critical thinking skills and prepare them for further study.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and enhance the school's arts ethos.
  • Maintain pupil safety and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications & Eligibility
  • Full teacher training and UK Qualified Teacher status (or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching art, design, fashion and/or photography at secondary level.
  • Preference for successful candidates with experience of Advanced Higher delivery.
  • Will to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check; if spent 3+ months abroad in the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check is required.
