Job Description

An established and growing professional services firm is seeking a motivated Tax Senior / Tax Technician to join its Tax team. This role offers the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively, providing high-quality tax services to a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industry sectors.

The successful candidate will be client-facing, deadline-driven, and keen to further develop their technical expertise while working towards a professional qualification (ATT, ACCA or CTA). Study support and mentorship from experienced, fully qualified tax professionals will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on existing tax experience and progress into more complex advisory work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing (with supervision) an allocated portfolio of private and corporate tax clients
  • Preparing Self-Assessment tax returns for individuals, LLPs and trusts
  • Preparing Corporation Tax returns and computations
  • Calculating Capital Gains Tax
  • Preparing P11D returns and ATED returns
  • Providing proactive tax advice to clients
  • Supporting Managers and senior colleagues with technical tax matters
  • Assisting with tax planning assignments and ad hoc technical projects
  • Conducting initial reviews of work prepared by junior team members
  • Liaising with clients regarding tax liabilities and queries
  • Assisting with HMRC enquiries and investigations
  • Attending meetings with clients, HMRC and third parties
  • Contributing to fee proposals
  • Supporting project management of client assignments where required
  • Assisting with basic accounts preparation
  • Providing ad hoc administrative and project support as needed
About You
  • Highly motivated with a strong academic background
  • Degree (minimum 2:1) in any discipline or equivalent (e.g. AAT Level 4)
  • Strong GCSE results including Maths and English
  • Currently studying or intending to study towards ATT, ACCA or CTA
  • Previous experience in tax compliance (individuals, LLPs, trusts and/or corporate tax) preferred
  • Proactive and professional with strong initiative
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Able to manage workload alongside professional studies
  • Detail-oriented with a high standard of work
  • Comfortable using accounting and tax software systems
  • Team-oriented with a flexible and adaptable approach
