The opportunity
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
As Tax Manager, you'll have three key focus areas: leading people and processes, overseeing compliance reviews and signoffs, and driving the delivery of tax-efficient and well-balanced projects.
You'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the tax function, ensuring the Head of Finance is always well-informed.

What you'll be doing
As Tax Manager, you will set the standard for excellence in the tax function, ensuring high-quality output, advice, and strong business partnerships.
- Lead and inspire the tax team, managing three direct reports and advisers, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Handle complex tax areas including VAT, corporation tax, EGL, Corporate Interest Restriction, Corporate Criminal Offence, Senior Accounting Officer, group reporting, deferred tax, and stay updated on legislation like BEPS Pillar II and transfer pricing across the UK and Ireland.
- Support and guide the Senior Tax Business Partner, driving tax strategies for mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and business structuring.
- Oversee integrations of newly acquired businesses' tax functions, ensuring seamless processes.
- Manage the Tax Control Framework to maintain compliance and best practices.
- Build relationships with stakeholders, shareholders, investors, and external advisers, earning trust.
- Adapt operationally as needed, stepping in to handle duties and motivate the team.
- Collaborate with the Head of Finance to shape the overall tax strategy and operating model.
What do you need to be great at this role?
You should have ACA, CTA, or equivalent qualification, plus:
- 3-6 years post-qualification experience, either in a large accounting firm or in-house.
- Proven team management skills.
- Ability to work independently, deliver under pressure, and handle ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
- Strong communication skills, able to convey complex issues simply.
- Willingness to challenge, innovate, and improve processes.
- Ability to build excellent relationships across finance and non-finance teams, investors, advisers, and HMRC.
- Professionalism, pragmatism, and integrity.
- Set the standard for top-tier tax advice and business partnering.
- Manage the tax team confidently, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Own key tax areas like VAT, corporation tax, and BEPS Pillar II across the UK and Ireland.
- Partner on M&A strategies, ensuring compliance and smooth transitions.
- Drive the Tax Control Framework to maintain high standards of compliance.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Step into operational duties when necessary, while leading the team.
- Collaborate with the Head of Finance to develop tax strategies for business success.
