Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon with a surgical bias to join a forward-thinking and supportive hospital team in Essex.

About the Practice, Team & Location

This is a dynamic, 24-hour RCVS-accredited small animal hospital, located just 30 minutes by train from London and within easy reach of two major airports. The purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility includes CT, MRI, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy rehabilitation, and more. The seaside is only a 25-minute drive away, offering the balance of city convenience and coastal charm.

The hospital team consists of 14 vets, including certificate holders in surgery and medicine, alongside a highly skilled nursing team with many post-graduate certifications. The wider team also includes a hydrotherapist, physiotherapist, and 12 Client Care Advisors.

About the Role & Services

This role offers the chance to join a thriving hospital providing gold-standard inpatient care, first-opinion consultations, and outpatient services covering emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, imaging, and laser therapy.

The successful applicant will:

  • Perform emergency and complex surgical procedures with confidence
  • Manage diverse medical cases to a high standard of clinical excellence
  • Be confident performing soft tissue surgery
  • Have the option to develop skills in laparoscopic surgery (not essential)
Rota & Work-Life Balance
  • 4-day working week (40 hours)
  • 1 in 4 weekends
  • No out-of-hours duties - dedicated night team in place
About the Applicant

The ideal candidate will have:

To Be Considered

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • MRCVS registration
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' small animal clinical experience, ideally with exposure to emergency and surgical cases
  • Demonstrated competence in standard emergency surgeries, orthopaedics, and soft tissue procedures
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to professional development, including ongoing CPD and upskilling
  • Passion for delivering high-quality patient care and excellent client service
