An opportunity has arisen to join University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Site Services, Catering team as a Driver to predominantly support the catering service and other areas of site services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for customer satisfaction, driving and food safety who can work as part of a busy Site Services Department and Catering team, within a hospital environment.
We have 1 x 35hr position available working predominantly 4 or 5 out of 7 days which will include alternate weekends. Hours will be 7.45am to 4.45pm and the successful applicant needs to be flexible and may be required to work various shifts including Bank Holiday's.
Main duties of the jobWorking with the catering department and principally to drive vehicles for the Catering Department which may include other areas within Site Services, this will include delivery of stock and equipment between Derriford and Estover, loading and unloading vans as required, and to support day to day operations of facilities and catering as designated by manager at any given time.
To provide friendly and efficient support of facilities services, demonstrating high standards of customer service at all times that meets the expectations of the patients, staff, members of the general public and the Trust both in terms of quality, safety, and value for money.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Job responsibilities1. The driving of all vehicles used by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust as required within the requirements of the Road Traffic Act and within the legal limits of the licence groups held.
2. The completion of daily checks and relevant documentation for any vehicle used in keeping with the Transport Department Policy. This is to include checking, and replenishing, if necessary, fuel, oil, water, tyre pressures and all relevant fluid or oil levels. To ensure the tyres brakes, lights and steering operate in a safe and satisfactory manner daily before driving the vehicle on a public road.
3. Responsibility for the roadworthiness of any vehicle being used and the security, safety and stability of all loads carried.
4. Cleaning the vehicle inside and out on a regular, as needed, basis.
5. Reporting any accident, however minor to the appropriate manager and to complete all relevant documentation.
6. Cleaning of catering and service equipment including work surfaces, and related equipment manually and by use of machines to hygiene standards
7. To maintain Food Safety and Hygiene standards in your work area and apply the food safety procedures applicable in the work areas.
8. To correctly use and take care of all equipment and materials associated with tasks and immediately report any faults to a supervisor.
9. Support the Catering team within the off-site kitchen when required.
10. Ensure all relevant cleaning schedules are adhered to and signed on completion daily

Person Specification Knowledge and Experience- Proven knowledge of COSHH, manual handling, fire awareness, infection control and clinical waste disposal.
- Proven ability to travel between sites
- Demonstrable experience working within a catering environment
- Demonstrable experience of driving in either a commercial or NHS setting.
- Proven knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance.
- GCSEs Grade A-D/3-9 in Maths and English or Functional Skills level 2 in Maths and English
- Must be able to demonstrate a good standard of numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
- Food Safety CIEH Level 2, this will be a requirement within the first 3 months
- Ability to work as part of a team, using effective communication skills with colleagues and others.
- Ability to work alone and use initiative where required.
- Commitment to imparting proven knowledge and demonstrable experience to others Team Members and new Staff.
