Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Swim Instructor to work 4 - 7 hours weekly during the school terms at Fore Street Swimming Pool, Ipswich and surrounding locations including Woodbridge & Felixstowe. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming, with the ability to educate individuals of all ages and skill levels. As a Swim Instructor, you will play a vital role in promoting water safety, teaching swimming techniques, and fostering a love for swimming among participants.

Vertas School Swimming part of the Vertas Group offers a fully managed, high-quality service designed to support schools in meeting both the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum for Physical Education (Years 4 to 6) and their own specific swimming objectives. Our programme is structured to ensure consistency, safety, and measurable outcomes across all participating schools.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct swimming lessons to groups of school children, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Assess the skill levels of students and tailor lessons to meet the national curriculum.
  • Educate participants on water safety practices and the importance of swimming skills.
  • Develop lesson plans that incorporate various swimming techniques and activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pool area.
  • To keep simple records of the progress made by pupils
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, water safety, and rescue procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students of all ages.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travelling to different sites.
  • Must possess patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards teaching.
Qualifications
  • An STA or Swim England Level 2 Swim Teaching Qualification minimumNRASTC or NPLQ
