Wates Group is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join our Smartspace team.


This is a national role responsible for implementing the Wates Strategic Supply Chain Strategy across the Smartspace business, enhancing resilience, capability, and performance of our supply chain, and leading a capable team to support our growth plans. ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Supply Chain Managers are crucial to our success. The focus of this role is to develop and implement a regional supply chain strategy that supports group objectives and the specific needs of Smartspace, our specialist fit-out and refurbishment business. You will lead category management, supplier development, and performance management to enable high-quality project delivery and continuous improvement.


As our Supply Chain Manager, you will:

  • Work closely with the Smartspace leadership team to develop and embed a Supply Chain Strategy aligned with business growth plans.
  • Lead the implementation of Wates' Category Management approach, developing strategies for key categories.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and capacity, aligning procurement strategies with future business needs.
  • Manage supplier onboarding to ensure compliance and successful integration into Smartspace operations.
  • Segment and manage supplier relationships through structured reviews, updates, and engagement events including conferences and awards.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance using Wates' scorecard system and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with other divisions to optimise group buying power and maximize value.
  • Provide leadership to a small, capable team, ensuring development, performance reviews, and succession planning.
  • Participate actively in the Group Supply Chain & Quality leadership team, contributing to improvement programmes and strategic planning.
