Job Description

Our client is a leading packaging group, recognised for its innovation, operational excellence,
and commitment to sustainability. As part of its strategic growth, the business is seeking a
visionary and results-driven Director of Supply Chain to lead, develop and oversee all aspects
of the supply chain, logistics, procurement, and operational planning functions across its
UK operations.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a dynamic individual with a strong operational
and supply chain background, proven commercial acumen, and the ability to inspire
cross-functional teams.

The Role

Reporting to the Board, you will take full accountability for the company's supply chain
strategy and operational delivery. You will:

  • Develop and implement business and supply chain strategies to achieve growth,
    profitability, and long-term resilience.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across logistics, purchasing, and production planning,
    ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and environmental improvements, reducing costs while maintaining the highest quality and sourcing standards.
  • Lead a robust procurement function in a commodities market, managing direct relationships with key raw material suppliers to secure supply and value.
  • Champion packaging and waste reduction initiatives, mitigating risk, and improving supplier performance through effective management and innovation.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure all operations - including shipping and delivery - meet strict quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Build and manage new supply chain partnerships, leading negotiations and implementing strategic contractual agreements.
  • Set strategic direction for the Supply Chain and Procurement functions to contribute effectively to EBIT Bridge and business-wide performance targets.
  • Oversee logistics and warehousing operations, including shipping schedules, load capacity management, fleet optimisation, and the environmental impact of operations.
  • Address supplier-related concerns across both current and future projects, ensuring continuity of supply and service excellence.
  • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, embedding a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure operations align with overarching business goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure commercial targets are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and industry regulations, maintaining operational integrity at every level.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Lead risk management initiatives to protect and enhance the company's financial and operational health.

About You
  • A proven supply chain leader with at least 7 years' experience at senior or
    director level.
  • Demonstrable success in manufacturing, supply chain management, and production
    operations
    .
  • Strong understanding of procurement in commodity markets and supplier risk management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Strategic, analytical, and commercially focused, with a passion for continuous
    improvement and operational excellence
    .
  • Experienced in leading change programmes, driving performance, and delivering measurable results.
  • Knowledgeable about local and international market trends and regulations within the manufacturing or packaging sectors.
  • Degree qualified (Bachelor's or Master's in Business, Supply Chain, or related field).
    CIPS membership and Lean / Six Sigma certification would be advantageous.
