We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our team at HMP Full Sutton near York. HMP Full Sutton is a Category A male prison with capacity of around 600 and offers a rewarding, challenging, and unique environment to learn and develop.
Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This role is part of the healthcare team and delivers outstanding care.
Position DetailsFull-time, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm or 9am - 5pm.
Annual salary up to £33,510 per annum.
Eligibility: Legal right to work in the UK. Employment subject to vetting and security checks.
Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc.
- Work with receptions (new patients entering the prison), triage and carry out assessments.
- Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and well-being.
- Deliver SMART sessions, Narcotics Anonymous, Inside Out etc.
- Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery.
- Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
- Prepare patients for release and transfer.

- Experience within substance misuse, ideally in a prison/secure environment, and preferably in a Recovery Worker/Practitioner role.
- Experience working within a substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, including housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways.
- Experience managing a caseload.
- Flexible approach and excellent communication skills.
