Job Title: Structures / Bridges Engineer - Highways

We are looking for an experienced Structures / Bridges Engineer to join our client's Highways and Traffic team on a permanent basis. You will play a key role in the inspection, assessment, design, and delivery of bridges, highways structures, and associated infrastructure projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-profile highways and regeneration schemes, working with multidisciplinary teams and supporting the sustainable development of the borough's transport network.

What You'll Be Doing

• Inspecting, assessing, and designing bridges and highway structures.
• Delivering and managing engineering projects from feasibility through to construction.
• Using AutoCAD (expert level) and drainage design packages for scheme delivery.
• Managing contractors and applying engineering contracts effectively.
• Preparing reports, analysing data, and making technical recommendations.
• Supporting and mentoring junior staff while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Working closely with colleagues, stakeholders, and supply chain partners to resolve challenges and deliver successful projects.

What We're Looking For

• Strong technical knowledge in structures, highways, and civil engineering.
• Proven experience in inspection, assessment, and design of structures/bridges.
• Knowledge of construction methods, Method of Measurement, and performance management.
• Contract and contractor management experience.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Expert-level AutoCAD user with ability to interrogate and analyse engineering data.
• Positive, proactive team player with strong problem-solving skills.
