Job Description
Associate - Structured Finance & Securitisation

2-6 PQE London Elite International Firm

The Opportunity

A leading firm is looking to hire two Associates at 2-6 PQE into its specialist Structured Finance & Securitisation practice.

The team is deliberately lean, giving Associates significantly greater responsibility, direct Partner exposure and meaningful client contact than is typically available within larger securitisation practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to work on complex, bespoke transactions while developing their technical expertise within a high-quality, specialist team.

The Practice

The practice has evolved into a highly regarded sponsor- and fund-focused securitisation team, advising major financial institutions, sponsors and corporates on a broad range of structured finance transactions.

The work includes:

  • Warehousing financings
  • Consumer loan securitisations
  • Bespoke securitisation transactions
  • Innovative structured finance programmes
  • Complex transactions involving novel asset classes

Importantly, the team does not undertake CLO work, making this a genuine broad-based securitisation practice.

Recent work has included advising a major international bank on an innovative electric vehicle lease securitisation programme, alongside work for leading financial institutions, sponsors and corporates.

Why This Team?

The team stands out for the quality and complexity of its work rather than volume.

Associates are regularly involved in transactions where there is no established precedent or straightforward "playbook". The team therefore looks for lawyers who enjoy solving novel legal problems, thinking commercially and developing creative solutions.

Recent work has included advising a major international bank on an innovative electric vehicle lease securitisation programme, alongside work for leading financial institutions, sponsors and corporates.

The Working Environment

The team is intentionally small and collegiate, currently comprising several Partners, Senior Associates and Associates across London and Amsterdam.

As a result, Associates benefit from:

  • Significant responsibility from an early stage
  • Direct and frequent Partner interaction
  • Excellent client exposure
  • Involvement in sophisticated, high-value transactions
  • The opportunity to work closely with leading financial institutions and sponsors
  • A strong focus on technical development and quality of work

The team regularly acts opposite other leading Magic Circle and top-tier firms, with the quality of work comparable to the very best practices in the market.

Culture & Lifestyle

Despite the quality and complexity of the work, the team operates with a quality-over-volume mentality.

  • Target billable hours: 1,650-1,700
  • Collegiate and supportive environment
  • Specialist team structure
  • Strong Partner accessibility
  • Broad exposure across transactions
  • Greater responsibility than typically available within larger teams
Ideal Candidate

The team is particularly interested in Associates who have:

  • 3-6 years' PQE
  • Strong structured finance and/or securitisation experience
  • Excellent technical ability
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience working on complex transactions
  • An appetite for bespoke and innovative work
  • The intellectual curiosity to tackle unfamiliar legal issues
  • A willingness to think beyond established precedent
  • An interest in developing within a lean, Partner-led practice
Why Consider It?

This would suit someone who feels they have become one of many within a larger securitisation team and is looking for a platform where they can have greater visibility, responsibility and Partner exposure.

It offers the combination of high-quality work, a specialist practice, sophisticated clients and a more entrepreneurial working environment, with Associates given genuine scope to develop their own expertise and take ownership of matters.
