Role: Strategic Business Development Manager
Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £70,000 plus commission and full travel expenses
Location: Hybrid - remote with UK-wide travel
iO Associates are working with a leading healthcare technology provider dedicated to transforming the delivery of health services across the UK. Their mission is to improve healthcare for patients, clinicians, and administrative teams by delivering innovative digital solutions and strategic consulting.
Role Overview:
The business is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to join their commercial team at a key stage of growth. This role is central to shaping client relationships, driving strategic opportunities, and opening new pathways for collaboration across the NHS.
You will act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, leading complex conversations with decision-makers and uncovering challenges where digital solutions can create real impact. With a consultative approach, you will be responsible for developing opportunities, influencing at a senior level, and ensuring commercial success goes hand-in-hand with improving healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with senior NHS stakeholders, helping them uncover challenges and explore opportunities for digital transformation
- Grow new business by identifying opportunities, opening doors, and developing a strong pipeline aligned to healthcare priorities
- Lead complex conversations and guide opportunities from discovery through to agreement, ensuring each solution is designed to deliver real value
- Work hand-in-hand with internal teams to shape proposals and presentations
- Represent the organisation externally, bringing market knowledge and insight into client discussions
- Keep on top of your pipeline and deliver consistent results against agreed objectives
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven success in enterprise or public sector technology sales, ideally within healthcare (software preferred)
- Strong understanding of the NHS landscape, with experience navigating long and complex sales cycles and procurement processes
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships at multiple levels - with the confidence to hold your own in senior conversations
- A consultative approach to selling, able to simplify complex challenges, ask the right questions, and co-design solutions with clients
- Commercial acumen, including deal strategy, pipeline management, and a consistent track record of hitting or exceeding targets
- Resilience and drive - someone who enjoys prospecting, attending events, and opening new doors rather than waiting for opportunities to come to them
Desirable:
- Experience in SaaS, digital health, or consulting
- An existing network of NHS digital leaders or operational stakeholders
- Background in management consulting, transformation, or solution-focused roles
- Knowledge of patient portals, EPRs, PAS, or wider digital health tools
- The ability to adapt across different types of sales cycles - from faster product-led deals through to strategic multi-year engagements
