Role Overview

By joining LNER as a Station Customer Service Assistant you will be the first or last point of contact on a customer's journey, providing a warm and welcoming hello, or wishing them well as they leave the station.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the safe and punctual dispatch of trains, whilst providing excellent customer service. You will need to be comfortable working in an operational environment and be able to prioritise effectively. Focus and attention to detail are essential to spot any potential hazards.

In addition to dispatching trains, you will help our customers on and off the train, assisting people in wheelchairs and helping holidaymakers with their suitcases, ensuring a memorable experience for all passengers.

Communication is key: you may liaise with fellow dispatchers or act as the voice of the station, making announcements on the public address system.

Qualifications
  • Extensive customer service experience with strong interpersonal skills, a track record of providing personalised and memorable service, and the ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work safely, with experience of working to rules and regulations, balancing customer service with safety guidelines.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, fully committed to the station's operational schedule.
  • Pass a psychometric test and a safety critical medical as part of the interview process.
What You'll Get
  • Free travel on LNER plus 75 % off other companies' tickets (for you and your dependents)
  • Discounted international train tickets after one year's service
  • 50 % discount on LNER tickets for friends and family
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Annual cycle to work schemes and electric vehicle scheme
  • Discount, savings, and cashback scheme from top retailers
  • Health and wellbeing schemes and discounts
  • A host of training opportunities to help further your career
  • Rewards and awards to recognise exceptional performance
Pre employment Checks

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check: If successful and new to the business, we undertake a basic DBS check as part of pre employment checks, reviewing any unspent convictions or conditional cautions. The panel may withdraw an offer if necessary.

Medical Screening: All roles require a medical screening and drugs and alcohol test before an unconditional offer. Safety critical roles also require a safety critical medical.
