Staff Software Engineer, Lending - United Kingdom

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of a global lending platform that is robust, highly scalable, and user-friendly. You will work on cloud-native services, building microservices and event-driven architectures that solve complex distributed system challenges. The role requires hands on development in Java, cloud engineering with AWS, and infrastructure management using Terraform. You will collaborate closely with product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions while maintaining high standards for performance, reliability, and scalability.

Accountabilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Java-based services and applications using AWS cloud technologies.
• Participate in technical analysis and translate product requirements into scalable solutions.
• Design, implement, and manage infrastructure using Terraform and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Build and maintain event driven microservices and handle distributed transaction challenges.
• Monitor applications with observability tools such as Grafana and perform database optimization, primarily on DynamoDB.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and collaborate on long term technical strategy.
• Ensure thorough testing and high quality deliverables through unit, integration, and load testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience, primarily in Java.
• Strong hands on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with event driven architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with testing frameworks, monitoring, and observability tools.
• Solid understanding of designing and implementing architectural solutions at scale.
• Based in the United Kingdom with legal authorization to work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Terraform, Postman, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with advanced observability tools and CI/CD best practices.
• Previous experience in the financial market or banking technology.
