Working as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team, you will support patientswith complex clinical needs and provide hands-on, person-centered care. As Staff Nurse, you will be responsible foradvising and supporting staff, therefore you will need to able to demonstrate ahigh level of competence in the specialty.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for someonewho must be a Registered General Nurse, who isenthusiastic and flexible with a passion for specialist palliative and end oflife care. A recognised post-registration palliative care qualification isdesirable, although you will be fully supported in the role if you have limitedor no experience with the specialty. You will have access to a range oftraining and development opportunities and be welcomed as a valued member of anexperienced and supportive team.

Provide clinical leadership and act as arole model in the delivery of high quality patient care.
Demonstrate skills in the practice ofpalliative care.
Promote the contribution of nursingwithin the multi-disciplinary team.
Deputise in absence of the Senior StaffNurses.
Maintain and develop evidence basedholistic care.
Ensure accurate record keeping.
Take on active role in clinicalpractice.
Help create an environment whichreflects the Hospices philosophy and its specialist palliative care approach.
Undertake medicine rounds in line withBolton Hospice Management of Medicine policy.
Develop good communication andprofessional liaison with all other personnel and agencies involved in theservice delivery of palliative care.
To promote effective communicationbetween members of the multi-disciplinary team and users of the service.
Ensure that all nursing care is carriedout in accordance with Nursing & Midwifery Council Scope of ProfessionalPractice.
Ensure patients risk assessments arecarried out daily

Support more junior staff.
Evidence Based Care, Quality andStandardsWithothers, undertake appropriate audit.

Adhere to Bolton Hospice Management ofMedicines Policy.

Havean awareness of the complaints procedure.
Maintainpersonal and professional development.
Ensureequipment is maintained as appropriate, and necessary records are maintained.
Organisational/Managerial/LeadershipBeinvolved with induction of clinical staff as appropriate.
Undertakeregular education to develop leadership management skills.
Undertakea regular KSF review.
Participate,under the guidance of the Sisters, in strategic developments within theorganisation.
Contributeto the Hospice business plan by setting, with others, Team objectives annually.
Appropriatelymanage organisation and clinical change.
Education and TrainingIdentifyown learning and development needs, based upon nationally and locally agreedrequirements for the delivery and development of palliative care.
Beactively involved with education.
Promotea positive clinical learning environment.
Supportthe Preceptorship Programme for new members of staff.
Keepup to date with issues in nursing and nursing research, especially thoserelating to palliative care nursing.
Undertakemandatory training and ensure staff receive mandatory training.
Clinical GovernanceWorkwith the clinical team to ensure that high standards of treatment and pathwaysof care, which are evidence based, documented and monitored, are in place.
Manageclinical risk issues in collaboration with the Senior Staff.
Participatein Audit.
Promotethe safety of patients, staff, visitors and volunteers at all times.
Attendclinical meetings when required.
Attendin house education sessions.
CommunicationAttendand participate in organisational meetings to ensure awareness of developmentswithin the area of practice and organisationally.
Communicatewith other service users to provide support and efficiency both internally andexternally.
Liaisewith external agencies to plan discharges
Promotepositive communications and relationships with the public.
OtherThepost holder may be required to rotate onto nights, and may be required to rotateto different departments in the hospice, according to the needs of the service.
Any other requirements as appropriate to the post andlocation.
Person Specification Experience- Proven experience of managing change
