We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join our Healthcare Service at Oasis Restore Secure School (ORSS). The role is responsible for the delivery of compassionate nursing care and health promotion services, providing a healthy child programme to year olds.
Staff nurses work as part of a team and support more experienced nurses and other health professionals, while also supervising other staff and student nurses to maintain high standards of care.
Main Duties of the JobYou will support the School Nurses in providing a comprehensive school nursing service and work with an integrated health care team that includes primary care, mental health, substance misuse and sexual behaviour services. Key responsibilities include:
- Keeping children safe through sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments.
- Ensuring best clinical outcomes by using up to date skills and evidence based policies.
- Providing a positive experience by respecting, empowering and partnering with children, families and carers.
The postholder is expected to deliver trauma informed, culturally sensitive care, consider developmental needs and build therapeutic relationships.
Detailed Responsibilities- Undertake health assessments, clinics and provide a range of health treatments and interventions for children.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate evidence based interventions and treatments.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies on site, providing safe and effective care and cooperating with the multidisciplinary team.
- Document accurately post incident and contribute to follow up care.
- Provide clinical guidance to all staff on health and wellbeing matters.
- Maintain high standards of care with a child centred focus.
- Work collaboratively across the Secure School and with external stakeholders.
- Participate in flexible working arrangements, including weekends and unsocial hours where required.
- Ensure assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation protocols for children with physical, mental health and substance misuse issues.
- Safeguard vulnerable children in line with Trust and Oasis Restore safeguarding policy.
- Apply local risk assessment and management protocols.
- Make appropriate referrals to additional services.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary clinical practice for integrated care programmes.
- Collaborate with residential and education teams for coordinated care.
- Registered nurse (Adult, Child, Mental Health, or Learning Disability).
- Evidence of continual professional development.
- Numeracy skills for safe medication administration.
- Mentorship preparation or equivalent.
- Willingness to complete additional training specific to the setting and school nursing.
- Previous experience in community, education or inpatient services (Band 5, student nurse or healthcare assistant).
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents and families.
- Experience working with diverse communities.
