We are currently looking to hire a Registered Mental Health Nurse for Alumhurst Ward, St Ann's Hospital.
Alumhurst Ward is undergoing refurbishment and will be split into a 10 bedded female unit and a 6 bedded male unit.
We are a well established, highly motivated and friendly team with experienced nurses and support workers. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care to our service users.
This is a great opportunity to join an established team that works well together to develop a high quality service. We have regular teaching, supervision and a shared vision and action plan for the service. We welcome applicants with experience and newly qualified.
The Trust runs excellent development courses that you can attend to learn and hone your skills. Continuous professional development will be planned and tailored to your needs together with support to achieve personal goals set via annual appraisal. You will receive regular clinical and management supervision.
We provide a comprehensive and fully supported preceptorship programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.
This is a fixed term or secondment position that will last until the end of the refurbishment works as part of the new hospital programme. It is proposed to end in December 2027.
Main duties of the jobAs a staff nurse you will lead and coordinate shifts, attend ward reviews, administer and dispense medication, provide advice and support to the team you are on shift with daily, and lead by example in looking after our patients. You will conduct your duties with care, consideration and kindness towards others in line with your NMC registration requirements.
The management team on Alumhurst is passionate about educating and developing staff in continued professional development and wants you to succeed in your career. You will have regular supervision with your dedicated supervisor and an annual appraisal. You will also receive in depth initial and ongoing inductions, mandatory training, plus clinical and management supervision.
You are required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course; it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course. If this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person Specification Knowledge, skills and training- Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
- Preceptorship programme or working towards it
- Ability to take charge of a ward/case load regularly

- Basic IT skills, normally obtained through practice or practical training
