Job Description

We are hiring a Staff Nurse - Orthopaedic Inpatient Unit at a Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Location: On-site - Dublin, Ireland

Job Type: Permanent/Full time

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, obtain nursing histories, identify care needs, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Monitor, observe, and document patients' physical and behavioural conditions, reporting any significant changes to the medical and nursing team promptly.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions safely and accurately in line with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Perform and support admission, discharge, and transfer procedures while ensuring continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation of nursing care, patient progress, education, and treatment outcomes while ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Promote infection prevention and patient safety by adhering to aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and hospital infection control policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, and nursing management to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, accreditation processes, risk management, and health promotion activities within the hospital.
  • Support professional development by attending mandatory training, mentoring students and new staff, participating in performance reviews, and maintaining flexibility to meet service and patient care needs.
Requirements
  • Hold a valid and active General Nurse registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) in good standing.
  • Possess recent and relevant nursing experience within an acute hospital setting, with Orthopaedic experience considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Show motivation, initiative, and an innovative approach towards patient care and professional responsibilities.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Demonstrate effective planning, organisational, and time management skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to work schedules, including internal rotations, night duty, and on-call requirements.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of developments, best practices, and advancements within the specialised nursing area.
  • Show awareness and understanding of relevant national healthcare and nursing strategies applicable to patient care.
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while treating patients, families, and colleagues with dignity, empathy, and respect.
