PositionAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse within the Gynaecology In patient ward at Ayrshire Maternity Unit, University Hospital Crosshouse. This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity post for 12 months.
Hours22.5 hours per week.
Future Working Week AdjustmentFrom 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for delivering high quality patient care without direct supervision to service users accessing Gynaecology Services. The post offers the successful applicant opportunities for skills development in a wide range of Gynaecology procedures.
QualificationsYou will demonstrate excellent communication skills, time management and organisational skills. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have post registration experience preferably within an acute ward environment.
Working PatternThis is a 24 hour 7 day a week flexible rotational work pattern. There may at times be a requirement for staff to rotate in other areas within all Gynaecology services including out patient services.
Right to WorkTo work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. It is essential that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored before submitting your application form. NHS Ayrshire & Arran may be able to offer visa sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and any other required criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case by case basis following interview and at the commencement of pre employment checks.
