Staff Nurse - Gastroenterology & Colorectal

If you are committed to improving patient care through effective leadership, advanced clinical practice and education we can offer the opportunity to join the Trust, as a Colorectal/Gastro Nurse. In the role you will learn to provide specialist care and support for patients with a variety of colorectal/Gastro conditions including Colorectal Cancer and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

We have recently opened 2 brand new purpose built 28 bedded Modular Wards with great facilities for our patients and staff.

We currently work closely with our specialist nurses, who offer the Ward support, teaching and have an excellent patient rapport.

• You will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by Trust Policies/Procedures, the NMC Code and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines
• Provide specialist nursing advice to patients referred for specialist intervention, care and support within the services, being a point of contact for assessment, information and advice for the patient, family and carers
• In liaison with others support the development of staff caring for patients through support, formal education, practice development and role modelling
• To teach and act as a facilitator and supervisor to other staff
• In conjunction with other relevant clinical staff, you will assist with clinical development in maintaining and improving all aspects of clinical governance
• Use a range of techniques to ensure and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to continually improve standards of care and patient experience
• Ensure safe and effective clinical practice
• Enhance patient experience
• Ensure effective delivery of organisational objectives

We promote development and actively encourage staff to share their knowledge within the teams. We encourage staff to rotate between our teams to maintain their skill set in the two specialities.
