Staff Nurse - Dialysis Assessment Unit

Are you a registered nurse looking for a new challenge? If so, this is an ideal opportunity to join our dialysis team at the Dialysis Assessment Unit. We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Registered nurse with at least 2 years experience post NMC registration and a minimum of 5 years haemodialysis experience who is passionate about patient education and in home therapies. You will be responsible for patient assessments, training, discharge to home or transition to self care or shared care. Our aim is to support dialysis patients in achieving flexibility and independence, leading to better health outcomes and reduced medication burden.
Main duties of the jobThe unit is open six days a week - Monday to Saturday 06:45-20:15. The post holder will prioritise, assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of care to an agreed high standard. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre registration students. Participate fully in structured competence based programmes, as required. The post holder will also take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team on a shift basis, ensuring effective team management and maintenance of high standards of quality care.
Person Specification Qualifications- First level registration (RN Adult) with minimum 2 years experience post NMC registration
- Teaching qualification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability
- Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
- Ability to work as part of a team and supervise/support junior staff
- Proven ability to problem solve and demonstrate awareness of own limits
- Good analytical and clinical decision making skills within the role of E grade
- Proven clinical skills
- Knowledge of relevant NSF/legislation and clinical governance
- Knowledge of current health policy
- Haemodialysis experience minimum 5 years
- Evidence of professional development
- Evidence of mentoring/pre preceptor role
- Experience in relevant area of practice
- Evidence of teaching
