Staff Nurse - (Children's Services)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Children's Nurse to join our Children's Services team.
We provide a bespoke and comprehensive training and education package, including a 2 week supernumerary period for all new starters.
Main duties of the jobChildren's Inpatient Unit (Ward 30)
Ward 30 is a Children's Inpatient Unit purpose built in 2016 with 35 inpatient beds, a two bed stabilisation area, adolescent room, school room, play room and a new sensory room under design.
Children's Urgent Care
The Children's Emergency Department (ED), Children's Clinical Decisions Area (CCDA) and Short Stay unit became one unit in November 2023. The Urgent Care nursing team works across the three areas, seeing large volumes of children with urgent care complaints and providing further assessment as needed.
Training package includes:
- Triage
- Care of complex inpatients
- Safeguarding
- Enhanced Paediatric nursing skills
- Palliative care
- Wound care/minor injuries
- Use own initiative and act independently within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills.
- Capable of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Self motivated.
- Innovative and dynamic.
- Flexible with regard to hours.
- Able to manage and cope with stressful situations.
- Decisive.
- Registered Staff Nurse, Registered Child Nurse, or due to qualify by October 2026.
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
- Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff.
- Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
- Ability to plan time and manage others.
- Motivation to learn.
- Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.
- Experience within a paediatric environment.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a submission for disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year (pro rated per annum).
