Staff Design Engineer, EU

About the role

Design Engineer at Ashby combines design and engineering to shape the UI and UX of a powerful talent acquisition product used by hundreds of thousands of users.

Responsibilities

• Redesign the mobile web app by working with customers, wireframing flows, implementing the design system, and turning wireframes into a polished UI.
• Build a set of flexible, composable components in the design system that enable other engineers to create consistent setup wizards across the product.
• Help product engineers improve information hierarchy and scannability to assist recruiters parsing candidate assessments.
• Expand and enhance our in house design system for the benefit of the engineering and product teams.
• Consult on bespoke design work needed by product engineers.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of industry experience as a designer or engineer (Junior); 2+ years continuous experience for Design Engineer (mid/senior); staff level required for professional contributions to a design system and feature delivery.
• Strong proficiency in both design (visual taste, UI/UX) and engineering (TypeScript, React, CSS). Backend proficiency is a plus.
• Experience designing products and shipping code to a wide user base.
• Ability to ship fast and iterate based on user feedback.
• Excellent visual design execution and taste.
• Comfort working on design systems and delivering complete design + code solutions.
