Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust are currently recruiting for a Domestic Assistant based at Sterile Services Decontamination Unit (SSDU).

SSDU Domestic Assistant
- 18 hours per week. 6 hours per day, between 8am and 8pm Saturday, Sunday & Monday. Rota will be discussed at interview.
We are seeking motivated individuals to undertake a full range of domestic duties.
Full training will be provided to the successful candidates.

Main duties of the jobThe successful candidates will be expected to work as part of a busy but supportive team who are flexible in their approach to service delivery.
They should possess the ability to manage their work daily; both in a team and using their own initiative, also able to follow schedules and procedures in line with National Cleaning Standards.

Job responsibilities- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high standards of cleaning within the areas at SSDU.
- To clean specific areas in line with Trust policy and National Cleaning Standards.
- To provide a cleaning service in accordance with approved methods, standards and frequencies.
- To use cleaning equipment, machinery and cleaning materials once trained and ability to spot defects with machinery and report to the Supervisor.
- Where required, undertake Bioquell Q50-HPV decontamination duties and be fully compliant with all methods and responsibilities of using this system.
- To adopt a flexible approach when undertaking domestic duties.
- Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of cleaning and its importance within the hospital environment
- Ability to demonstrate use of industrial cleaning machinery
- Knowledge of the hospital sites and the departmental functions
- Knowledge of infection control
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Basic numeracy and literacy required
- Ability to demonstrate general knowledge / experience and skills for domestic cleaning role
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of people including patients and service users
- Ability to organise & prioritise day to day tasks
- Ability to be flexible and work across a range of departments and areas
- Ability to demonstrate use of industrial cleaning machinery
- Previous experience of cleaning within NHS or equivalent experience in a domestic field
- No formal qualifications are required: an induction period, on the job instruction and additional training will be provided on infection control, COSHH, National Cleaning Standards, use of cleaning equipment/machinery and manual handling.
- C.I.L.B City & Guilds NVQ Level 1 & 2 or equivalent qualification
- Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to the role, i.e with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, without hesitation
- Flexible approach to working unsocial hours & mobility across the Trust
