Within AMZL, the Electrification and Infrastructure (E&I) team ensures long term electrical power supply is aligned with Amazon's eMobility plans. The Senior Energy Strategy Manager will manage power upgrade projects and lead the on the road (OTR) resiliency program across our EU network. This includes managing relationships with external stakeholders (DNOs, power upgrade vendors, generator rental vendors) as well as internal stakeholders (Launch & Expansion, Design & Construction, Sustainability Engineering, Procurement, GESA, RME, and ACES teams). The Sr. Energy Strategy Manager will manage contracting and financial supervision for power upgrades and develop the resiliency strategy to ensure delivery reliability as our EV fleet scales. They are accountable for ensuring power is delivered on time to enable EV fleet deployment at the lowest cost possible, and for reducing the risk of package delivery disruptions caused by power outages and electrical infrastructure failures. Please note that this is an Individual Contributor (IC) role.
Key job responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of power upgrade projects throughout Europe, covering Last Mile legacy sites, new launches, and Middle Mile electrification.
- Report the technical and financial status of power upgrade projects.
- Prioritize projects with the biggest impact on our business, propose and obtain approval from relevant functional leaders, and schedule resources.
- Manage power upgrade vendor and DNO stakeholder relationships.
- Establish and maintain a close and constant exchange with the EU Procurement, L&E, D&C, and Sustainability Engineering teams.
- Own the EU OTR resiliency program, including developing and maintaining a quantitative risk model to assess site level exposure to power outages.
This position requires Ownership and Dive Deep, with a mix of leadership, soft skills and technical acumen along with program administration. This candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders. Also, this opportunity requires excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and the ability to succeed in a fast paced technical environment. The ability to work independently and deal with an ambiguous environment is a must. The ideal candidate is motivated, innovative, agile, and has exemplary time management and project management skills. A passion for sustainability is required.
Basic Qualifications- Master's degree in engineering or equivalent
- Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering
- Experience with tools/systems to analyze data including Excel, Access, SQL or other data management systems
- Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing
- Experience in positions that require analysis and reporting financial results
- Experience writing and publishing technical documents or equivalent
- Italian and/or Spanish language proficiency
- Experience in the energy or electric grid industry
- Experience with power upgrade and power connection processes
