Sports Centre Duty Manager

Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh
Full-Time Permanent

We are currently recruiting for a Sports Centre Duty Manager to support the Head of Site Operations in the day-to-day running of the Sports Centre at the renowned Fire Service College.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and supportive environment, ideal for candidates with a background in sports centres, leisure facilities, or fitness environments who are looking to step into or develop within a supervisory role.

About the Role

As a Duty Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the sports centre. You will lead by example, delivering excellent customer service while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver a high-quality customer experience
  • Ensure excellent standards of customer care and service delivery
  • Handle customer queries, complaints, and issues in a professional and effective manner
  • Support the safe operation of the facility, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards
  • Provide visible leadership to staff, ensuring they are motivated and performing effectively
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across the centre
About You
  • Previous experience in a sports centre, leisure, or similar environment (e.g. lifeguard, gym instructor, personal trainer)
  • Willingness to complete a lifeguard qualification (RLSS NPLQ) if not already held
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification (preferred)
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Pool Plant Operator qualification (CIMSPA) is desirable
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Management experience is not essential.

Working Hours
  • 37.5 hours per week, across 5 days
  • Weekend working required
  • Rotating shifts (example patterns):
    • 05:45 - 13:45
    • 13:30 - 21:30
