SPECIALITY DOCTOR IN GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY

WALTON WARD, PSYCHIATRY INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Unity Centre, Fieldhead Hospital, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield, WF1 3SP

Full time, Permanent, 10 Programmed Activities per week plus on-call

South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Specialty Doctor to join the Psychiatry Intensive Care Unit (PICU) based at Fieldhead Hospital, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Wakefield Acute Care Pathway. Walton PICU Ward is a 14-bed adult psychiatry intensive care unit (PICU) based at the Unity Centre , Fieldhead Hospital in Wakefield

Experience
  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.

  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.

Physical Attributes

Transport

Qualifications
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.

  • Spent a minimum of four years (full time or equivalent in postgraduate training in the UK or equivalent medical experience, of which at least 2 years in psychiatry.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment to enable to join the middle tier rota.
  • At least 6 months experience in acute care pathway.
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
  • Experience in forensic psychiatry is desirable. Equivalent experience is acceptable, if appropriate competencies can be demonstrated and with agreement of the medical director.
  • Experience working in other medical specialties including general medicine, geriatric medicine, and A&E.
