Specialty Doctor - Older Adult Psychiatry Inpatient - Salford

This is a full time appointment for a Specialty Doctor in psychiatry to work with the community mental health team for older adults. They will cover the East Cluster within Salford, predominantly Broughton, Swinton, Pendlebury and Prestwich Village. The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr N Sultana.
The Appointee is not required to participate in an on call rota unless negotiated by the candidate.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will join the clinical team that currently supports East Salford, based in Swinton, and be supervised by Dr N Sultana. They will liaise with other medical colleagues within the Salford area and support the community team with clinical activity that includes meetings, CPAs, professionals' meetings and other Mental Health Act related activity.
The post holder will review patients presenting to MATs clinics, complete home visits for MATS and CMHT patients, diagnose, and formulate management plans with supervision as required. They will be expected to be a Section 12 approved clinician; the Trust will support obtaining S12 or AC approval if needed.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including external partners and local GPs. Conduct assessment and management of risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others.

Person Specification Qualifications- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Excellent knowledge in specialty.
- Excellent clinical skills using a bio psycho social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
- Able to meet duties under the MHA and MCA.
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£61,542 to £99,216 a year pro rate.
