Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our Female Secure Services team at the Hollins Park site. This is a full time position offering the opportunity to work within a well established, supportive multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical input to ward rounds and the Care Programme Approach (CPA) process.
  • Support admission and discharge planning for up to 16 low secure female patients in the Chesterton Low Secure Unit and 8 patients in the Tennyson Step Down Service.
  • Oversee day to day clinical management of patients on the ward.
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, risk assessments, and liaison with external agencies.
  • Prepare and present clinical reports for CPA meetings, ward rounds, and recommend referrals to the service.
  • Provide written and oral evidence for Manager's Hearings, Mental Health Tribunals, and potentially for court proceedings.
  • Participate in referral assessments and client discharge planning, liaising with receiving services.
Qualifications
  • MBChB, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in psychiatric medicine, with additional experience in forensic psychiatry preferred.
  • Fully registered with the GMC and in good standing.
  • Section 12(2) approval (or willingness to obtain within 3 months).
  • Clinical leadership and audit experience desirable.
Transport
  • Holder must have a valid UK driving licence or provide evidence of a proposed alternative.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of psychiatric specialty with a bio psycho social approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical situations and uncertainty.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience applying the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and DOLS.
Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning
  • Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Committed to continuous professional development, research, and audit programmes.
  • Experience in clinical audit and service evaluation leading to service change.
  • Able to plan and deliver teaching relevant to this post.
  • Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken and participated in service evaluation.
