Job Overview

This Specialty Doctor post will see the successful candidate join our Ophthalmology team and have the skills to support those already existing in this friendly department. Applications from individuals with experience to complement those already in the team will be welcomed.

Department and Clinical Settings

The Ophthalmology Department is based at University Hospital Ayr where adult inpatient and day surgery facilities are situated. University Hospital Ayr is a friendly district general hospital on the outskirts of Ayr. Paediatric inpatient and day surgery is provided on the Crosshouse Hospital site. Outpatient services are provided at University Hospital Ayr, University Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and the War Memorial Hospital in Lamlash, Isle of Arran.

Terms and Conditions

The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Specialty Doctor Grade (Scotland) 2022 and is offered on a 10 programmed activity basis. Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part time or job share basis will be considered. Opportunities may exist for additional programmed activities subject to service requirements. The post will involve participation on the on call rota on a 1:8 basis attracting a 5% on call supplement.

Requirements

Appropriately experienced applicants must have full GMC registration with a current licence to practice and should have completed the fellowship exam in Ophthalmology from any of the Royal Colleges.
